Bengal Tiger No. 1

Bengal Tiger No. 1

Name:  Shika

Photographer notes:  Shika was my first large cat to photograph in studio.  Large cats in studio are an experience unlike anything else. The combination of power and grace is tangible. They command respect and one wrong move can make things escalate quickly.  I remember distinctly when Shika’s trainers removed her leash and asked her to walk to the mark.  The way she walked was so graceful, and stunningly beautiful.  But I was in the middle, at her mercy.  The feeling that I could be prey was chilling.  She received fresh, uncooked meat as her reward between takes.  I only work with trainers who show a great amount of respect for the animals and are incredibly thoughtful with their care. Shika’s owners not only treat her with dignity but also love.  It was obvious there’s an ongoing relationship of trust and appreciation.  I have a video of this experience, which you can see here

    Printing Process

Our prints are made using the finest materials and printers available in a tightly controlled environment.  We use German based manufacturer Hahnemühle’s Photo Rag Baryta paper.  It is 100% cotton based with a subtle luster coating and has a hefty weight of 315GSM.  This is arguably the finest printing paper in the world.  Furthermore, we create a custom profile for our printer paper combination and use archival pigment inks, all of which allows us to create the highest quality prints designed to last a lifetime.

Our prints are carefully enclosed in glassine and then packaged to protect while shipping.  We include a beautifully designed certificate of authenticity with both limited and open editions.  The certificate includes the artist signature, title and edition number, if applicable.  We suggest placing the certificate on the back of the framed piece in an envelope.

After receiving your print, we recommend keeping it enclosed in the glassine covering it was shipped in until the image is framed.  In particular, for larger prints we recommend exercising CAUTION when unrolling the print as damage could occur if not careful.  Ideally the larger prints should be unrolled by a framing professional.  Finally, we recommend perfect mounting on foam board when framing images larger than 11X14.

All prints come with a certificate of authenticity. The certificate includes the artist signature, title and edition number, if applicable.  We suggest placing the certificate on the back of the framed piece in an envelope.
